January 3, 2025

Washington, DC – Casting her first vote in Congress today, Congresswoman Sheri Biggs (R – Oconee) supported President Donald Trump’s endorsed candidate for Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson from Louisiana.

In her released statement, Congresswoman Biggs highlighted the importance of Congress getting to work and supporting President Trump’s agenda.

“South Carolina’s Third Congressional District proudly stands with President Donald Trump and the America First agenda,” said Congresswoman Biggs. “That is why I cast my first vote in Congress for President Trump’s endorsed Speaker candidate Mike Johnson.”

In today’s vote, Speaker Mike Johnson was re-elected as Speaker of the House, on a first ballot, signifying a unifying vote and commitment by the new Congress to focus on the issues that matter most to everyday Americans and the people of South Carolina’s Third District.

Also, Congresswoman Biggs’ first three co-sponsored bills passed the House of Representatives through the passage of the Rules Package today.

Congresswoman Biggs is an original co-sponsor of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, a bill that clarifies any school receiving federal assistance that allows a male to participate in an athletic program or activity designated for females is in violation of Title IX. She is also an original co-sponsor of the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, legislation that makes illegal aliens who commit sex crimes and domestic violence inadmissible and deportable. And, Congresswoman Biggs is also an original co-sponsor of the SAVE Act which requires individuals to provide proof of United States citizenship in order to vote in federal elections.

“I was given a strong directive by my constituents to fight for the conservative values of South Carolina’s Third Congressional District. Protecting girls’ sports, ridding our nation of criminal illegal aliens, and only allowing American citizens to vote is both common sense and necessary in advancing the America First agenda.”
