Congresswoman Sheri Biggs Votes to Pass the One Big Beautiful Bill
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Sheri Biggs (R-SC-03) voted in favor of H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a major legislative package supported by President Donald Trump that tackles the issues South Carolinians care most about: securing the border, cutting wasteful spending, protecting families, and upholding our constitutional freedoms.
“This bill is a monumental step forward in restoring common sense in Washington,” said Congresswoman Biggs. “It puts America first, our national security first, looks out for working families, and stands up for the values we live by every day in South Carolina’s Third District.”
The bill includes some of the strongest border security measures ever passed by Congress. As a member of the Homeland Security Committee, Congresswoman Biggs has helped lead the charge to secure our border — and this bill makes sure no future administration can tear that progress down. It locks in the tools to finish the wall, expand ICE operations, and give law enforcement what they need to remove over one million illegal immigrants every single year. It fully funds the hiring of 10,000 new ICE agents and builds out the detention capacity needed to do the job right. This bill ensures that another Biden-style border disaster can never happen again — and gives us the tools to remove illegal immigrants from this country swiftly and effectively.
This bill makes it clear: no taxpayer dollars should ever be used to fund abortion or harmful, irreversible procedures like transgender surgeries. In just one year, Planned Parenthood brought in over $2 billion in income, held $2.5 billion in net assets, and still took in $792 million in government funding — more than $2 million a day, nearly 40% of their total revenue. Taxpayers deserve better. Bottom line: this bill defunds Planned Parenthood and ensures public dollars can never be used to end innocent life — period. It also makes clear that Medicaid should protect the vulnerable — not fund gender transition surgeries for adults, and certainly not for children.
For gun owners in South Carolina and across the country, this bill is a clear victory for our Second Amendment rights. It removes outdated federal restrictions on suppressors and wipes out the red tape and taxes that have unfairly punished law-abiding citizens for decades. This is a major step forward in restoring our Second Amendment rights and defending the freedoms every patriot should be able to exercise without government interference.
The bill cracks down on red tape by requiring a sweeping review of harmful regulations across federal agencies. This gives President Trump the tools he needs to finish what he started — cutting back the bureaucratic overreach that’s held back American energy, agriculture, and small businesses for too long.
The bill also protects nuclear energy — one of the most reliable and powerful sources we have — and puts an end to billions in reckless spending on Biden’s green energy boondoggles. It takes a firm step toward restoring American energy independence and dominance. That means fewer taxpayer handouts to failed programs, and more affordable, dependable energy for working families.
And on national security — the bill delivers. It includes historic investments to rebuild our military, protect our homeland, and give our troops the tools they need to keep America safe. That includes funding for President Trump’s Iron Dome for America, modern missile defense, shipbuilding, and expanding our nuclear deterrent to stay ahead of threats from China, Russia, and rogue states.
“This bill delivers on the clear mandate voters gave us in 2024 — to restore security, sanity, and sovereignty to this country,” Biggs said. “It may not be perfect — few things in Washington are — but it delivers big wins for border security, personal freedom, and fiscal responsibility. I came to Congress to get results, and this bill moves us forward in the fight to restore America and put the America First agenda into action.”
